Sustainable Sourcing Update

Reducing Environmental Impact Across Our Supply Chain
At Qingdao Highflyer, sustainability isn't just a buzzword — it's a core part of how we do business. We're committed to continuous improvement in our environmental practices while maintaining the handcraft quality our partners depend on.
Key Initiatives
Responsible Raw Material Sourcing
All of our natural fibers — including seagrass, water hyacinth, rattan, and bamboo — are sourced from managed ecosystems. We work closely with local harvesting communities to ensure:
- Seasonal harvesting schedules that allow natural regrowth
- Fair compensation for artisans and raw material suppliers
- Traceability from source to finished product
Reduced Packaging Waste
We've redesigned our export packaging to minimize waste:
- Replaced polystyrene foam with recycled cardboard inserts
- Reduced plastic wrap usage by 40% through better box-fitting designs
- Introduced biodegradable shrink wrap options for moisture-sensitive products
Energy & Emissions
Our production facilities have implemented several energy-saving measures:
- Solar panels now provide 25% of workshop electricity
- Improved kiln efficiency for bamboo and rattan treatment
- Consolidated shipping schedules to reduce per-unit transport emissions
Looking Ahead
We're currently working toward third-party sustainability certification and expect to complete the audit process by Q3 2026. This will provide our partners with verified documentation of our environmental and social practices.
Our goal is simple: deliver beautiful, handcrafted products that our partners can feel good about selling — products that are good for homes and good for the planet.
